I got paints!...

Eleven colors, plus white. It was agony narrowing it down to the bare minimum. At the last minute I gave up the magenta. I'll survive, and come back for it later. I also got four canvases. I didn't get the easel or tripod, they were quite poor in quality. One gust of breeze through our windows would have caught the canvas like a sail and sent the easel flying. Not to mention I'm always tripping over stuff.

The good easel was Rs. 2600, which is over $60. It's always funny to me that anything under 500 rupees sounds like less than $12, but once you get up to 6-700, it starts sounding really expensive to me. Spending Rs. 2600 on something happens so infrequently, it seems staggering. Anyway, I figure I can always just prop the canvas up on something on the floor, and that'll be cheaper and more stable than what they were offering.

I'll have to wait until the morning for good light to start. Oh, and I should probably collect some newspapers and tape for the floor. Details, details.

Amit got in safely to L.A. after a delay and extended stopover in Hong Kong. Since he's flying business class, thank goodness, he got hooked up with a lounge, internet access, and a hotel room until the morning. He got into L.A. at about 2am, and will hopefully wake up fresh and ready to go. It sure is worth someone else's extra money. I wonder if he'll ever be able to fly cattle class after this.

Glad to hear Mom is feeling better. :)
